Review of District B13 (2004) by Jerome K — 11 Nov 2011
I prefer watching foreign movies in their original language with English subtitles, because I feel a lot of the emotion and nuances of the characters can be lost otherwise. Unfortunately, I was only able to obtain a dubbed version of District B13. Admittedly though, the job done on this film wasn't as bad as I expected. All the dubbing was done using British voice actors, so it almost felt like I was watching a British film instead.
Anyway, though the story itself is very short and goes by very quickly, there is a good amount of satisfactory action, although there were the occasional moments where certain sequences felt more choreographed than natural. I did enjoy the various acrobatics that incorporated the urban setting. There's a lot of chasing, wall climbing, and jumping from building to building. Overall, I was expecting more from the plot, but the energy made it entertaining enough to satisfy fans of action films.
