Review of District 13: Ultimatum (2009) by Henrique G — 12 May 2010
Slightly disappointed in this sequel. The first one was a riot of frenetic action and brilliant parkour. Leito and Damien are still decent characters and the stunts, set pieces and parkour are all there but it doesn't seem as fresh or exciting as the original.
In fact it feels very much like a re-tread. Some of the fight scenes owe a lot to Jackie Chan and to some extent Tony Jaa in places and I think that a lot of them seemed too placed for me at times. Still it was a decent action movie and I've seen much worse.
Switch off brain, (story in particualr is utter gubbins, the President is annoying as hell, is a complete wet blanket, changes his mind like the flaming wind and doesn't seem to have a backbone whatsoever) sit back back and shake your head and the craziness of it all.
Superhuman leaps from buildings included.
