Review of Disenchanted (2022) by Tvjerry — 27 Nov 2022
The original movie, Enchanted, was a delightful comedy that brought a fairytale princess (Amy Adams) into real world NYC, where she meets her prince (Patrick Dempsey). This sequel takes place 15 years later, when they move to suburbia for a more idyllic life.
The charms of a fish-out-of-water story are lost in this new installment, delivering a more dramatic storyline. There's still a bit of humor with Maya Rudolph providing some of the best moments. The songs by Alan Menken are tuneful, but rather bland.
Overall, without the genre sendups and other satirical elements, this follow-up lack surprises and much genuine humor.
