Review of Disco Godfather (1979) by Tim S — 21 Dec 2016
I wanted to see this after the hearty indirect recommendation from the Red Letter Media guys, and I couldn't have been any more pleased with it. The Disco Godfather is one of the most campy but enjoyable blaxploitation movies that I've seen in a very long time.
Rudy Ray Moore is terrific, as I imagine he is in everything, and my girlfriend and I were laughing all the way through the movie. The movie is completely stocked with one liners and has one hot and funky soundtrack to boot.
Yes, you can see through the plot to the bottom, but the plot, and everything else really, is absolutely meaningless in this. Check your filmmaker hat at the door and just sit back and enjoy this perfectly amazing piece of crap.
