Review of Dirty Wars (2013) by Manny C — 31 Jan 2014
A documentary that will add to the debate on how to deal with violent jihadist groups. JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) uses special forces and intelligent agencies to fight a covert war against the violent jihadist groups because the they fight against us using covert methods.
The documentary believes that America's covert war against violent jihadist groups has turned some moderate Muslims more violent because of mistakes made by JSOC that killed innocent people and covered up their deaths, and America won't win by simply killing violent jihadist groups.
Personally, the way to beat the violent jihadists is to marginalize them within the Islamic world, and I believe building partnerships by using humanitarian means will increase the chances of bringing more Muslims into our side; however, I do believe we do need to use our special forces to hunt down Alqaeda if we can work side by side with other Muslim groups who do not believe in their interpretation of Islam.
