This was a very interesting exploration into events which trigger journalists to ask questions and funnel more information to laypeople. Many have become more aware and interested in the exploits of special operators throughout America's two recent, protracted wars.

The premise is a little queer however. As the story goes, a war correspondent with over a decade of experience hadn't heard of JSOC until a botched SEAL team raid in 2010. While many elements of special warfare remain classified, anyone with even a slight interest in the affairs of our military should be familiar with SOCOM and some subordinate commands like JSOC.

By 2006 we even had MARSOC. While I appreciate the research involved and the bravery of the journalist, I never felt any revelations in the film were surprising, unreasonable or new. At times military operators hunted the wrong people, killed the innocent, covered things up, and angered the local populous.

Okay. So? This film was released in 2013. I'm always glad to see a counter to the mass media narrative, but I could hardly imagine a slightly curious mind that doesn't already assume the information available in the film.

Anyone interested in this film has likely learned the "hidden truth" back when horrors like these were breaking. Who is this film for?
