Wonderful movie. It would have been so easy to make this unremittingly bleak, but despite the theme - the awfulness of illigel immigrants lives - it has lighter moments to throw the worse bits into even more convincing relief.
Black comedy ending with baddy getting condign punishment (although tempered with some mercy - 'call an ambulance in an hour'). Totally convincing acting throughout, plus of course the glorious Audrey Tautou.
Watch this movie. Loads of well deserved awards.
