Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Jesse O — 16 Jan 2012
An extremely good cop film, maybe the best cop film I've ever seen. Clint Eastwood is at his finest in this intense crime thriller. Eastwood plays "Dirty" Harry Callahan, a no-nonsense cop who is not afraid to cross the moral and ehtical boundary in order to get the job done.
Just like all classic Clint Eastwood movie, "Dirty Harry" is chock full of memorable one liners. The enemy that the San Francisco Police Force have to face, named Scorpio, is a demeted disturbing man who you really hate by the end of the movie.
The action scenes are extremely intense and not overly long. The chase scenes are extremely memorable, and they will have heart beating over a million times a second as well as keeping you on the edge of your seat.
However, what made the biggest impact on this movie is the title character himself, Dirty Harry. Harry is one of the best, most three-dimensional characters ever put into a thriller movie. I was so engaged with the movie and Eastwood's performance, that when the credits rolled I began clapping my hands.
I was rather sad that the movie was over, as I loved seeing Harry Callahan deliver his one-liners and fight crime. I loved this movie so much that I'm going to watch all the other Dirty Harry movies.
I'd recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of crime/thriller/cop/Clint Eastwood movies.
