Review of Dirty Grandpa (2016) by Payton B — 20 Mar 2016
Dirty Grandpa is one of those comedies that tries a little bit too hard. I will give it to it, it does deliver a few laughs, and the cast is nice at least. I mean, De Niro and Efron are likeable guys and the girls are pretty.
It's the script that's really the problem. Most jokes are too edgy, but aren't really anything new. Everything kinda feels like something you've watched before. And since it's not really supposed to be the point, I won't be so hard on it, but the plot itself is filled with holes.
Being a comedy, I know it's not supposed to make perfect sense, but then again, this girl starts getting mad at a guy for "lying" and he didn't even lied, he just never really gave all the details to his personal life to strangers he just met.
Unless you yourself make fun of how that doesn't make sense, then it's a mistake.
