Review of Dirty Filthy Love (2005) by Helena K — 24 May 2010
I've seen Dirty Filthy Love twice now and found the second viewing just as delightful as the first. Michael Sheen is positively brilliant as the disturbed Mark Furness, whose increasingly erratic ticks (Tourette's, OCD) are ruining his life.
He's lost his job as a partner at a successful architectural firm, his wife has left him, and he can't even shave his face or sit on the toilet without fear that he'll be killed. Shirley Henderson plays Charlotte, a trichotillomaniac who gets Mark to attend group support meetings in the hopes of controlling his impulses and, of course, along the way, they fall in love with each other.
It's completely adorable and wonderful. Yay!
