Review of Dirty Dancing (1987) by Stephen P — 09 Apr 2015
For some of the movies I watched, I watch it because of my best friend which I didn't careless about watching them, or I just leave them to last. I have a list of movies that my best friend wanted me to watch, and there's a lot of movies that I didn't really wanted to watch, and Dirty Dancing is one of them.
The reason I didn't want to is because the dance movies I watch are the Step Up movies, and I really don't like them to a point that I don't think there can be a good dance movie. I've only saw the remake of Footloose which I really enjoyed, but it's been a long time since I watched it and I don't have an idea about why I liked it.
So with Dirty Dancing, I watched it with no expectation, and ... well, you saw the rating. I honestly didn't think I'll enjoy it, and I did. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey are really good and their chemistry is great and believable.
The dance scenes are fantastic to this day and are the best part of the movie. It actually focuses on the plot and chemistry than the dancing which I'm very glad to see. I never quite seen a chemistry between a father and his daughter this different before.
The supporting cast are really good, and the soundtrack is very catchy, which is really cool to see that one of the songs would be one of the most famous songs of all time. The characters are good, and it actually has a plot that's really good.
I was fairly interested to see where it's going, and the writing is not bad. Dirty Dancing is my favorite dancing movie that would be a classic to my eye.
