Review of Dinosaur (2000) by Patrick F — 14 May 2011
An interesting experiment in blending CGI and real backgrounds that, while visionary at the time, looks really bad by today's standards. And while I realize faulting an older movie's primitive effects might be unfair, it's damned near impossible to watch without thinking about how bad it looks the entire time.
When it was released, most critics praised the visuals but said the story was derivative and uninteresting. Well, now that the visuals are no longer impressive, what we're left with is a dull LAND BEFORE TIME retread.
