Review of Dinosaur (2000) by Harry W — 06 Aug 2013
Dinosaur doesn't feature the most creative plot since the story is very thin, generic and dull while only taking up 81 minutes of time but still seeming a bit stretched.
The quantity of its plot dynamics is also minuscule and although its a realistic plot in most parts, it isn't the most entertaining child-oriented animated film. Plus, the script isn't the most creative and doesn't dive into exploration of Dinosaur characters in the usual Disney manner such as when they brought Insects to life in A Bugs Life or when they brought Toys to life in Toy Story. But either way, they don't succeed nearly as much in Dinosaur.
Nevertheless, Dinosaur was still a good film. Mainly, because the animation quality of Dinosair is.
The majority of Dinosaur features marvellous cinematography used to have shots of beautiful lands and locations, and it flows naturally along with the story which is great because the excellent quality animation brings the creatures into perspective very finely through use of high-quality 3D animation and detailed visual aesthetic qualities of the characters. The visual imagery of the Dinosaurs and Lemurs and such is absolutely astounding for the day it was made, and it finds a fine balance between realistic and cartoony so that its incredibly realistic but also fun and colourful on a manner that only comes with the thrill of a kids animated movie.
Basically, although it doesn't steam with the brilliance of some of the better Disney films and does face issues, Dinosaur is still a fun kids movie with some magnificent animation.
