Review of Dinner at Eight (1933) by Michael G — 23 Nov 2008
My mother has talked up this movie ever since I was a kid and after many years and finally getting around to seeing it, I just don't see the big deal. Admittedly I was only paying half attention (didn't really like anyone in the cast) and my mom was talking through some of it.
All I really got out of this movie was a more lighthearted and sometimes funnier version of Grand Hotel when I was expecting more of a screwball comedy. Maybe I'll come back to it somewhere down the road but not anytime soon.
