Review of Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995) by Caleb Z — 22 Jul 2011
It's a travesty that this film only has a 49% rating. Is it Oscar-worthy? Of course not. But few can argue that it's the only film worthy of following up the original Die Hard. McClane's signature mix of exhaustion and muttering humor, excellent action sequences, and the addition of Samuel L. Jackson's angry "Zeus" make this a superb example of 90s action flicks.
What's more, it's somewhat believable: meaning McClane is not ejecting out of a parked airplane to escape grenades with the longest fuses in the history of grenades, nor is he escaping a fighter jet on a freeway. The villain's methods and motivations are somewhat believable, unlike those in 2 and 4.
