Review of Die Hard (1988) by Bryce W — 04 Dec 2015
Die Hard: Time to go out with a Bang...Literally.
*Spoiler Alert*.
John McTiernan's Die Hard film is a great example of an action packed film, filled with more than enough gunfire, mass explosions, and hand-to-hand combat. I'd say that it is one of the greatest action movies made in the 80's and it keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Just like in many action films, we are introduced to the hero and his world in the story and everything is going great. John McClane (Bruce Willis) is invited to his wife's Christmas party where she works. Then comes a curve ball and he's thrown off balanced by a German "Terrorist" named Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) who puts the building in lockdown in attempt to steal millions of dollars from the CEO. Now with everyone in danger, John McClane must swoop in and put a stop to Gruber's plans in order to save the hostages.
Overall, John McTiernan did a spectacular job. As what seems to be a necessity for an action film, automatic guns, explosions, helicopters, and some fist fighting. Bruce Willis, starring as John McClane, has a pretty good sense of humor as well; Die Hard has it all.
