Review of Die Another Day (2002) by Jessica H — 06 Oct 2011
A good acceptable Bond film. Starts off Classic Bond, but sadly only for the first half of the movie, and it's really that part I'm reviewing. As soon as the Ice Palace is introduced the movie feels like two different movies. It feels like splitting The Godfather in two and then putting the last half of Superhero Movie on at the end.
Jinx, Halle Berry is a good strong Bond girl, so is Miranda Frost, I liked her, but she was a bit weak too.
Most of the characters are good. The bad guy having plastic surgery and becoming a new person was good. The Ice Palace, the big mirror in the sky WTF? Nice effects though, but nothing special and actually spoils the film a lot.
The good thing is that if you forget all of the bad stuff then this is a enjoyable Bond film. Well it's better than The World is Not Enough, but this still is a weak one.
The directing is quite good, original for a Bond film, nicely done.
