Review of Die Another Day (2002) by The R — 01 Jul 2011
"Die Another Day" is Pierce Brosnan's fourth and last outing as James Bond. The film starts off fairly strongly with Bond getting released from North Korea and out for revenge after having been betrayed.
The film in its first half does a good job of staying true to the Bond formula while updating it for the contemporary times. Unfortunately some of the later scenes are a bit too silly to mesh with the earlier better half of the film, and the use of fast and slow motion isn't aesthetically pleasing.
However, Brosnan is good as usual, Halle Berry is a better Bond girl than most people say, and Toby Stephens makes for a good Bond villain. A good if uneven Bond film.
