Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Kyle M — 08 Jun 2009
Diary of the Dead was a very decent zombie movie, with the premise basically being a group of film school students filmed a documentary about a recent outbreak of zombie uprisings and attacks, and you are watching there film.
This movie has a great premise, but actually falls short of being great. The special effects were good, but not great; and the same could be said for the acting. And the problem with that is this movie relays mostly on its action with spread out zombie and zombie attacks.
So if a movie that relays on its acting, only has okay acting, than you clearly will only get an okay movie. A bow and arrow is a nice new innovative weapon for a movie of this type, but that was just about the only new thing about this movie.
The camera style you could say is newer, but had been popping up in movies a lot more lately (i.e. clover-field and quarantine). All in all, this movie bring nothing new to the table for a zombie movie, but that doesn't take away from it being pretty okay.
