Review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (2017) by Davidwashere — 24 Aug 2017
As someone that did grew up with the books and a bit of the movies, I was expecting garbage, and I got garbage. While the older films were not high art, they were not as pandering, padded, stupid, nor disgusting as this movie.
It's basically every terrible kids movie made in the 90s and 2000s, filled with crass toilet humor that thinks that being gross is somehow funny (which is not), filler that don't do anything but distract from the main story, and characters that are underdeveloped or just plain unlikable.
If anything, this movie is a sad reminder that movie studios will still beat a dead horse and Batman and Robin really did a number on Alicia Silverstone's career.
