Review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (2017) by Dudley L — 02 Jun 2017
Great family entertainment at the end of the day and enjoyable!
Naturally human beings are only mortal, therefore the original cast are unable to retain their youth forever, more so when the movie franchise is based on a 'kid' and his references to diary events. When you accept that many many years later, a new cast is required, it's then you realise that after watching the film they've actually done a superb choice with the cast that they've picked and I hope they speedily consider making a few more sequels before this new cast come of age.
This film won't win any Oscars, because it never set out to do that and it's not that type of film anyway and admittedly there's more funnier films than this out there. Never the less I still enjoyed this, even more than a few oscar winning films. It's light hearted entertaining fun and although some little things could've been slightly better and they could've added more (hence awarding 4 great stars), it still just about hits the spot and was liked in the theatre.
Here's hoping they do produce some sequels with the same new cast from this film as each one is spot on.
