Review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010) by Abishai S — 02 Nov 2012

I don't read books and then measure their counterpart movies against them, because I think you go into the movie expecting less, and come out with a skewed rating of the movie. That being said, with a movie like 'Wimy Kid', I don't think it mattered much.

It was an average movie that had its funny parts, but seemed to me like 'Everybody Hates Chris' or 'Wonder Years' (take your pick) the big screen version. I think the movie overdid the plight of the main character, Greg, because by the time the movie's over, my favorite character by far was Rowley, the ever-loyal best friend.

That shortcoming, combined with what I feel was a script that we've all seen played out a million times, this was an entertaining-but-average film.
