Review of Devil's Knot (2013) by Lovely L — 23 Jun 2014
Looking at the title, it's easy to understand why so many people have mistaken this for a horror film. I think a lot of people would be disappointed to find out that it's actually a dramatic recreation, but really, the story is far more scary than most horror films.
I haven't seen any of the documentaries that cover the subject matter of Devil's Knot, but I think it's safe to assume they would present the facts in a less bias way. Even though I did like this film, and it did very well to build tension, knowing that it was a true story meant that every time there was a twist or a new fact was presented I felt as if this tragic story was being manipulated for entertainment.
This didn't stop me thinking that Devil's Knot was a good piece of drama, and worth a watch if you are interested in the subject matter.
