The premise is interesting and based on a true story. The story itself is weakly translated to the screen. Some scenes are unnecessary and add no value to the plot while other important ones are glossed over.

Colin Firth has top billing but is wasted in this film. He simply skulks uselessly in the background. The film's only saving grace is a strong performance from Reese Witherspoon.
