Review of Devil's Due (2014) by Al M — 19 Jan 2014
Devil's Due follows the typical found-footage format of not really getting good until the last 30 minutes. It is essentially Rosemary's Baby retold through the found-footage format. As an avid found-footage horror fan, I enjoyed it, but others may not.
It mixes together elements from various found-footage films, particularly the Paranormal Activity series, and it never really pushes the genre in any new direction. I also found the believability of the "found-footage" conceit to be somewhat tenuous during certain shots.
Also, the husband who films everything is extremely cheesy and annoying, and I longed for something to kill him off. Still, Devil's Due manages to become creepy during the final third of the film and is worth a watch for found-footage fans and those who dig Satanic horror movies.
There are far worse Satanic found-footage films. Believe me: I have seen way too many!
