Review of Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) by Xgary X — 16 Apr 2010
Hard-nosed detective thriller, played out in a believable environment in post-WW2 Los Angeles.Easy Rawlins(Denzel Washington)has debt up to his eyeballs, and is desperate to get a break. Along comes a seemingly easy job: Track down a Daphne Monet,a young woman which he later discovers has connections to the criminal underworld.
From there it goes all haywire with both the police, his employer and several other players threatening his life and hassling him for an answer. Plot twists, and sick secrets, corrupt politicians and a trigger happy friend(played with conviction by a great Don Cheadle)makes for great entertainment.
