Review of Devdas (2002) by Goofy'S World — 31 Dec 2008
Only the second Bollywood film I have ever seen and I enjoyed it much more than the first! There were times where I found it a little hard to follow (it would veer suddenly from comedy to drama, and there were SO many characters) but in the most part I found it thoroughly enjoyable.
Adored the colours, the sets and the camera work. It really was beautifully made and the screen was always completely lit up with something interesting to watch. The music and dancing was fantastic - particularly enjoyed the two female leads dancing together near the end (kinda wanted to jump up and join in!).
I really loved the dramatics of it all, the fight between the Mum's was fantastic and the scene at the end ... OH MI GOD! So tragic, so sad and so beautifully done!
Still don't really get the Shahrukh Khan thing, I tried so so hard but only found him a teeny bit attractive in the end when he was stubbly (and dying!) -Aishwarya Rai on the other hand - WOW! What an amazingly beautiful and talented woman - she was just incredible!!!
