Review of Detroit Rock City (1999) by Jeff B — 18 Aug 2009
A classic rocker film for fans of the metal culture enthusiasts...pretty much the story of 4 teenagers who win KISS tickets, lose them and go on an outrageous adventure to get them back. Can they make it to the show on time? How far would YOU go to see the greatest rock band in the world? Even if you werent alive back then or were too young to remember the late 70s/early 80s, you can still appreciate the teenage long-haired headbanger culture and the endless supply of hilarious moments.
My fave scene: when they are outside the concert hall and beating the shit out of each other to make the bouncers think they got their tickets stolen!! I also think its ironic how nowadays the Metal kids make fun of the Emo kids in much the same way as the disco kids used to make fun of the headbangers.
...good times. Also the music selection is great.
