Cleveland, Ohio. 1978: A new sound is sweeping the world challenging Disco on the charts and causing a moral panic* amongst the establishment, the Vanguard of this new style of music is KISS. Amongst their devoted followers are a High School band Mystery made up of Hawk (Edward Furlong), Lex (Giuseppe Andrews), Trip (James DeBello) and Jam (Sam Huntington). With dreams of seeing their idols live in Detroit the boys are determined to let nothing stop them, not Jam's religously minded mom, not a pair of Disco loving Guidos and not whatever trouble the Motor City can throw their way.

Solid road-trip/coming of age film that offers up some solid laughs. Well certainly not essential to likening the movie Detroit Rock City reminds me of the more receint "Across the Universe". Like that ode to The Beatles and the 60's one's level of enjoyment of DRC is directly related to ones love and appreciation of ether KISS or Rock n Roll in general. I'd say check it out.

*Oh how our society does love a good moral panic (especially our fine neighbors to the South). I've lost count of how many we've had you'd think society would stop falling for this crap (video games and rap music seem to be the latest target). Apparently theirs not enough problems in the world we have to make up a few as we go.
