Review of Detroit (2017) by Chris F — 05 Aug 2017
Detroit is a powerful and disturbing movie from director Kathryn Bigelow. The performances are great in the film. John Boyega, Will Poulter, Alger Smith, and Jacob Latimore were standouts. Poulter was exceptionally great as the racist cop.
The film was incredibly tense. I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Bigelow's directing style definitely works here very well. The film was consistently entertaining. It played out like a horror/thriller movie.
While the film is long, I never felt bored. Overall, I absolutely loved this film. Everything from the acting to the directing was top notch. The film is also important because of the message it has. The film might not be an easy watch, but it is an important one.
This is a must-see that I highly recommend.
