Review of Detroit (2017) by Mike B — 05 Aug 2017
I am 61 year old white Jew who was born in the city and followed the path described in the movie out to the suburbs. However, I am an inner city Detroiter at heart and I describe this film the same was I describe Schindler's List. An amazing film yet horrifying that we could treat humans as animals. I cried in pain for my brothers the same way I cried when the couple embraced in bed in Schindler's List.
The most bothersome parts is that A: this is more biographical than one would think and B: 50 years later and we still have to try to argue that Black and Brown lives matter, and the police still plant evidence and frame innocent people.
