Review of Detour (1992) by Gordon B — 27 Dec 2007
Everything brilliant about the film noir genre, condensed into a tiny, abrasive package. Tom Neal plays a haunted man seemingly at the mercy of a dark, unavoidable destiny. It has that grand premise of film noir - that one wrong choice can lead to your ultimate downfall. Ann Savage is equally engrossing as a hitch-hiking scrapper, out for herself and trusting no one. She mirrors Neal's character perfectly.
One of my all time favourite films.
