Review of Detour (1992) by Ken S — 25 Feb 2015
In this gritty old film noir, a man attempts to hitch-hike to California to meet up with with his old flame, only he accepts a ride from a man who dies in the passenger seat. Fearing he will get accused of murder he hides the body and assumes the dead man's identity until he can ditch the car, but he picks up a woman who had also taken a ride with the dead man, and she's a real nasty lady who will turn him in if he doesn't do everything she says.
Solid film noir, with a decent plot, good performances, and a short and sweet running time. It would be great if movies today didn't feel the need to drag on forever, sometimes it's good to trim a film to the essentials.
