Review of Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (2010) by Bowie L — 29 Sep 2010
As a fan of Tsui Hak with some expectation.... I am disappointed...
Visual effect: Still good, but no breathe-holding scenes at all... always expecting Tsui's dream world will be more astonishing~.
Script/story: not much expectation though, doubt how many scenes about the complicated relationship between the Empress and Warrior and Dee were deleted...
Acting: Andy Lau's always the same, more or less; Li Bingbing: not much for her to act; Lau Ka-Ling's acting is quite impressive, esp. the last scene of her with Li Bingbing!!
Directing: just a pass or worse than a pass as Tsui, being one of the Masters of HK film industry!
