Review of Detachment (2011) by Dave N — 28 Mar 2012
American History X director Tony Kaye helmed this heavy handed melodrama that works as a cinematic indictment of America's public school system. This film is preachy, manipulative, indulgent and over the top in its delivery.
However, despite the many things going against it, Detachment is a mesmerizing experience that works on a surreal level of filmmaking skill. With a great cast that delivers excellent performances.
