Among other dynamite cock-eyed star turns featured here, Brody brings himself to bear in his role as a man who has grown averse to emotional complications and yet becomes entangled in them during his latest public school subbing gig in Tony Kaye's bitter, Stone-ian return to the helm, which is so urgent, emotionally branding and full of blindsidingly outstanding performances and scenes that even its stylistic unevenness is refreshing.
