Review of Destry Rides Again (1932) by Caroline L — 12 Feb 2008
This is less of a western comedy and more of a satirical western--but this doesn't mean that there isn't plenty of humor along the way! Stewart plays a gun-shy deputy who finds he has to live up to his name (his father was a great gunsman), even if it means compromising some of his beliefs.
Marlene Dietrich plays a dance-hall singer who manages to blend in with the boys (and even "steal" Mischa Auer's pants!) and make some women violently angry. This film has one of the best (funniest; most extensive and intense) "cat-fights" I've seen in the movies.
