Review of Despicable Me (2010) by Jesus C — 30 Jul 2013
I hadn't been looking forward to Despicable Me, but when I saw it, I was honestly imprerssed by how funny it was, how good the plot was, and how it essentially took ideas from other forms of animation (ie Pixar, Dreamworks, and even the classic animated shorts of decades past), knowing it's an animated movie and like Kung Fu Panda, using that to it's advantage to tell a story however it wants, and is also rather heartfelt too, which I didn't expect.
Now we do have some setbacks, like getting the incredibly untalented Cosgrove and Brand into there somehow (how they even became famous I'll never know), but Steve Carell balances that out perfectly and those minions.
..they made the movie what it is, that's all I'm gonna say.
