Review of Despicable Me (2010) by Dann M — 27 Dec 2013
Steve Carell leads the cast in the animated children's film Despicable Me. A supervillain who aspires to steal the Moon adopts three orphaned girls as part of his fiendish plot; but he unexpectedly becomes attached the girls, causing him to question his priorities.
Carell gives a strong performance, and is supported by co-stars Will Arnett and Jason Segel. However, the writing is rather weak and does a poor job at developing the characters. The comedy is also fairly obvious and tries to get by on physical humor alone.
Despicable Me is generic in a lot of ways, but it's also entertaining too.
