Review of Desperado (1995) by Christopher S — 14 Mar 2011
I've always enjoyed Robert Rodriguez as a director because his films always bring a perfect combination of over the top violence, humor, cliches and stereotypes. Desperado is everything you would expect from the mind of Robert Rodriguez. As for the cast...Antonio Banderas shines big time in the title role. With charisma, charm, and flair, he shows just what made him a favorite among hollywood in the mid-90's and for that matter Melanie Griffith. Salma Hayek, All I can say is WOW!. She more than holds her own here; the chemistry between her and Banderas is undeniable...But more then that she is just a total and natural beauty. She steals every scene that she's in with her beauty. As always, Rodriguez has a great supporting cast with alot of "Rodriguez" mainstays. Quentin Tarantino, in one of his few decent acting performances, gets laughs with a hilarious scene and You even see a little preview of "Machete" Danny Trejo doing his thing. Steve Buscemi and Cheech Marin also are involved in some funny scene stealers.
Desperado has some great action sequences and the Mexican setting is just great. Desperado is a very cool film. Watch it if you wanna see some great action.
