Review of Dobermann (1997) by Tsubaki S — 03 Jul 2011
Kounen's supposedly conceptual exploitation of ultra-violent cinema is far too gratuitous and chauvinistic to be taken seriously and far too ignorant and predictable to be considered frivolously fun.
In a largely incoherent script littered with gun-totting babes, lecherous goons and Nazi Detectives, the occasionally self-referential moment of humour hits the spot, but the rest is just an incredibly distasteful mess of grimy sex and sweaty violence with nothing ever amounting to something even remotely interesting or enjoyable.
