Review of Desperado (1995) by Movie K — 28 Jun 2011

Watch this again after many many years. It is cool, sleek and plain fun. Movie start off with Steve Buscemi going into a bar operate by Cheech Marin. Telling a story of how a Mexican with a guitar case of weapons killing everyone.

Antonio Banderas is his friend, the one he talking of. He wanna kill a guy name Bucho (Joaquim de Almeida) because his men kill his lover and injure his hand previously. Quentin Tarantino is a pick-up guy, go to find Cheech.

Antonio go to the bar to enquire about his target but turn into a gunfight. One baddie was in the secret chamber, he follow Antonio and is gonna shoot him. Salma Hayek is in the way. He save her and got shot in the arm.

But he kill the guy. Salma bring him back to her bookstore and treat his wound. She told him he is no match for Joaquim. He send minions to hunt for Antonio. Steve ask Antonio to give up. A mystery killer Danny Trejo who use throwing knives kills Steve and injure Antonio.

Joaquim men kill Danny, thinking he is the target. Danny is actually a killer send by Joaquim associate to help him. Antonio saw the street boy changing guitar with a man. Inside hides drugs. He told Antonio Salma is also doing the same with her bookstore.

She told him her place is also control by Joaquim. He came but didn't reveal Antonio is hiding. Salma and Antonio end up having sex. Joaquim know he is hiding at the store. Send killers there and burn the store.

The duo escape. Antonio have a chance to snipe Joaquim but didn't. He call in 2 friends to help. 1 hold a guitar case rocket launcher. The other have 2 cases of machine guns. The big showdown gunfights and his 2 pals are dead.

Antonio pick up the injured street boy to hospital. Duo goes to find Joaquim. Turns out they are brothers. Joaquim is gonna shoot Salma but Antonio shoot him first. They parted at the hospital. Salma drive and pick him up again.
