Review of Descent (2007) by Shaun J — 05 Jun 2014
A friend gave me a challenge: to pick one [actually scary, and] good horror film I've seen already for us to watch together. Naturally, I chose The Descent, a movie I remember well for its brilliant acting and unique set, which provides genuine horror in the form of entrapment and urgency.
It's claustrophobic, creepy [just look at the underground creatures], and downright riveting throughout. And wow, what a cool storyline. An unlikely masterpiece, spawned by an underwhelming budget and a director who sorrily missed the mark in his last attempt at the genre: Dog Soldiers.
THE film to watch for horror movie newcomers.
