Review of Dersu Uzala (1975) by Blind P — 29 Nov 2007
A buddy flick and a man vs nature epic all rolled into one, the simplicity of the story can also be construed as a profound study of human relations as they relate to environmental effects.
Beautiful shots abound, and the pacing is handled with care.
However, this simplicity also makes me feel as if I do not need to visit it again. I doubt there is much more for me to take out of it.
I perhaps undervalue this movie with a '6 - watch it once' in the end, but it's my value system in the final evaluation.
