Review of Dersu Uzala (1961) by Elizabeth A — 25 Nov 2008
After the box office failure of DODES'KA-DEN, Akira Kurosawa made this brilliant motion picture about a group of men who set out to chart a forest somewhere in Siberia. They meet up with a frontiersman named Dersu Uzala, who leads the way.
Beautifully photographed and paced, this fantastic film is one of Kurosawa's best.
