Review of Demolition Man (1993) by Roberto L — 12 Oct 2012
1996.Demolition Man is the story of a rebellious LAPD officer, John Spartan (Stallone) that needs to take down a serial killer, Simon Phoenix(Snipes), Spartan commits a involuntary murder and get himself and Phoenix cryogenically frozen. Phoenix escapes his frozen prison, he is to much for the futuristic cops so they decide to awake John Spartan from his cryogenic dream.
So far so cheesy, and it doesn't end there, there's more to come from this hilarious/ridiculous film. Its the year 2032 in "San Angeles" some of us may think that police, society and government might in a hellhole, well, they are not, actually the people of San Angeles are having the time of their lives mainly because there has been not a single murder for the last 16 years. But there's more, San Angeles Police Department are a complete waste, they have no guns since there have been no murders or burglars for 16 years then why even bother having a police department in the first place?
The cast is surprisingly a "good" choice, Stallone as the action hero, Bullock as the naive 90's fanatic and Snipes as the maniac killer, yes, they are very fun to watch and listen to the ridiculous and cheesy dialogues. The trio gives laughable performances not a single one was believable, not a surprise, the 90's were the cheesy movie's era.
Direction was not a big deal, I mean he decided to make a futuristic Los Angeles with futuristic cars, laws, dialogues, cheesy.
Hold on, the cheesiest and probably most ridiculous part of the entire film is without a doubt the "sex scene", no touching.
Don't get me wrong it does have its cheesy yet entertaining times, although there are slight plot holes overall Demolition Man is a fun way to spend to your free time.
