Review of Deliverance (1972) by Stuart F — 04 Oct 2008
Some nice scenery but really, what was the fuss all about? I think this film seems to have become a 'classic' purely because of the duelling banjos and the male rape scene! I found it overlong with pretty wooden acting, aside from the actual hillbilly's who apparently were genuine locals and not professional actors!
On a similar theme I'd say Walter Hill's Southern Comfort is the better of the two movies and even that's not great!
