Review of Deliverance (1972) by Matt M — 29 Jan 2013
Holy hell do these guys going canoeing get way more than they bargained for. Burt Reynolds best performance and he's not even the lead. The entire cast must have known they were making a movie for the ages because their A-game is on full display.
The movie isn't afraid to take its time to get started and gives you plenty of fun stuff for the first half so that when the second half hits you are absolutely floored. A great adaptation of a great novel and one of my favorites, though some parts of this movie don't make for easy viewing.
The dueling banjos scene is outstanding!
