Review of Delicatessen (1991) by Scott D — 24 Nov 2008
Extremely quirky, original black comedy film from Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro. Dominique Pinon delivers a great performance while the rest of the cast, especially the nutty Jean-Claude Dreyfus, helm their roles perfectly.
The direction is quite artistic and nuanced and the scenery and sets are wonderfully designed. While the ending leaves something to be desired, Delicatessen is a funny, somewhat mad ride sporting some true originality and some interestingly vegetarian themes.
Recommended.
