Review of Defendor (2009) by Chris C — 05 Jun 2012
Woody Harrelson: Vegan Superhero. Holy cow, "Scott Pilgrim" was right. Funny how no meat made him one of the most awesome Texans around. Stick that in your pipe, Chuck Norris. Hey, speaking of stuff about Woody Harrelson that no one knows about, let's talk about a Woody Harrelson movie that no one saw.
It suffers from being underdeveloped, mildly unengaging at points, somewhat thrown together and having a major downer ending. In spite of this, the film is to an extent offbeat, very compelling and boasts a remarkable performance from Harrelson, who brilliantly potrays the easy-to-overdo characteristics of his character in a very subtle and real way and carries not only the compellingness behind his character, but the film itself.
Ultimately, "Defendor" certainly isn't the most feel-good superhero flick you can see, (well, at least it's less messed-up than "SUPER") but still has a solid premise and a strong leading man to make it a thoroughly entertaining experience.
